*Job Description* *Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint: Youth Development Professional* The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
We provide a building-centered effort to work with and mentor youth of all backgrounds with special concern for those from disadvantaged circumstances.
Throughout the history of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint, we have been able to provide after-school and summer programming for over 6,000 youth throughout the community.
*Performance Profile Source: *Programs *Reports to: *Unit Director *Classification: *Non-exempt *Primary Function:* Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities and programs for youth aged 7-17 within a specific area such as Art, Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and/or Good Character and Citizenship and continually ensures a safe, positive and fun environment.

Averill Ave, Flint MI 48506 *Essential Job Duties:* Prepare Youth For Success: * Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of stated Youth Development Outcomes * Promote and stimulate program participation for Club members (ages 7-17) * Maintain a safe and positive environment for the cultivation of character, citizenship, and leadership development.
* Provide guidance and role modeling to others.
Program Development and Implementation: * Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
* Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety and quality of programming.
* Maintain active participant roster for each program.
* Prepare activity reports * Maintain a clean and positive Club facility.
* Identify and maintain possible partnerships for the development of the program.
Additional Responsibilities * May participate in special programs and/or events such as field trips, etc.
outside of scheduled work shift.
* May chaperone and transport youth in a Club vehicle.
* May cover other program areas if needed or short-staffed.
* General maintenance and cleaning of the Club and grounds.
* Report any concerns/issues/potential health risks or hazards concerning the environment, staff, programs, etc.
*Relationships* Internal: Maintains contact with supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, Club members’ parents/guardians and others if required.
*Minimum Qualifications:* * High school Diploma or GED * Experience working with children/teens * Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems * Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth * Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment * Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and balance competing demands.
* Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
* Criminal Background Check * Driving Record Check *Preferred Qualifications:* * Current Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain.
* Associate’s degree or higher.
* Knowledge of youth development practices.
* Knowledge of mental health as it pertains to youth services.
*Physical Demands* * Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and reach.
* Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
* Must be able to pull, push, or lift up to 25 lbs.
