George Preschool & Childcare offers the Great Start To Readiness Program (GSRP), funded by the State of Michigan, to families who qualify.
The Associate Teacher position we are looking to fill would be within the GSRP classroom.
*
*The GSRP Associate Teacher position includes assisting the GSRP Lead Teacher in maintaining the required records to ensure grant compliance with the GISD and meet licensing guidelines.
*
*The GSRP Associate Teacher is responsible for working as a team member in providing a quality educational program for preschool children by supporting the classroom teacher in planning, assessing and instructing students.
This person will: *
* *Assist in developing daily lesson plans and providing children with developmentally appropriate experiences.
*
* *Document children's daily progress by observing and recording behaviors using the Children Observation Record (COR).
*
* *Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, development and physical health.
Support student growth physically, emotionally, and developmentally.
*
* *Alongside the Lead Teacher, meet with the parents to discuss an individual child's progress and needs and determine the best ways to promote their learning and development through (2) home visits and (2) parent/teacher conferences and (2-3) family involvement events (sometimes after school hours) scheduled throughout the school year.

* *Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development _or_ Early Childhood Education _or_ the equivalent; a valid Center-based preschool CDA credential or an existing 120 hour approval.

*Qualifications: *
* *Experience teaching preschool aged children is preferred.
*
* *Experience with HighScope Curriculum, COR Advantage is preferred.
*
* *Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
*
* *Must be able to obtain Michigan Child Care Licensing Background Check clearance (including fingerprinting).
*
* *Must be able to obtain a tuberculosis (TB) test report showing evidence that staff member is free from communicable tuberculosis and is verified within one year before employment.
*
* *Have, or be willing to successfully obtain, current CPR and First Aid.
*
* *Must be dependable, reliable, and protective of sensitive/confidential information.
