ELGA Credit Union Structured Compensation - Job Description Senior System Programmer Department: Technology Solutions Grade: 12 Reports To: CIO Classification: Exempt Supervises Direct: 0 Supervises Indirect: 0 Role: To analyze, maintain, design and develop new and existing programs utilizing or creating any databases and sources that may be necessary.
Develop reports, summaries, data-files, visual representations of requested data.
Provides consultation and technical assistance to other teams.
This position is responsible for development of production and ad-hoc reporting, file-maintenance or automation to meet departmental and organizational information needs.
Ensures adherence to accepted programming standards and practices.
This position leads through example and is expected to mentor junior team members and be an asset to the Core Services team.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 20% Responsible for all aspects of programming and development for the Core system including development and implementation of any core related applications, reports, file maintenance, utilities and tools, data extract and data file manipulation, and other initiatives utilizing approved programming languages.
Develops code specifications based upon best practice coding methodologies that are consistent with the complexity of the request.
Performs validation of code commensurate with best practices and coding complexity.
In cooperation with the end user, tests application software to assure accuracy, integrity, interoperability and completeness to meet or exceed expectations.
20% Performs administration, tuning and management and ongoing maintenance of associated PowerOn code.
Work with other TS staff and Associates to identify opportunities to improve operating effectiveness and efficiency of applications and business processes.
20% Responsible for the documentation of procedures, programs, reporting and programming standards and procedures.
Prepares application software procedures and documentation for usage, operation, backup and recovery, and process automation.
20% SQL Server database administration and report development, within the Symitar ARCU data warehouse, analytics, and reporting system.
Symform creation, modification, and form coding modifications as needed.
Assists in incorporating any developed code into the appropriate agreed upon processing schedules.
15% Assist, train and mentor other TS personnel in their programming endeavors and perform other related duties as assigned.

Create / maintain programming solutions that are well documented and adhere to prescribed standards and best practices.

Create / modify programs that produce accurate, reliable, repeatable verifiable results.

Create programming solutions that meet or exceed requestor expectations.
4.
Develop and maintain knowledge of each users' department's duties, computerized information systems and underlying data to successfully design and develop the systems and programs to meet their needs.
5.
Expand skill set by learning new languages, techniques, and systems and share this knowledge and experience with other members of the programming team.
6.
Provide system support services on-site, on-line and/or via telephone during working hours and on-call after normal working hours responding to calls or messages within 24 hours.
7.
Keep management informed of any key issues affecting the department.
8.

Knowledge and Skills: Experience Three to five years of Symitar PowerOn, HTML and Java programming experience.
Education (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.
g.
information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation.
Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Expand skill set by learning new languages, programming techniques or systems and share this knowledge and experience with other members of the Core Services team.
