*GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: *
The Program Director guides the vision of the work of the City of Flint’s Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI).
Responsible for strategically turning ideas into real solutions/initiatives.
Communicates effectively to interact with high level policy professionals internally and externally.
Utilizes knowledge of the issue of gun violence and key players (in the field) in order to meet the programs objectives.
Provides input and direction to ensure the success of the program.
Utilizes the principals of inclusion and collaboration with identified communities most negatively impacted by violence, specifically gun violence.
Ensures a successful program by developing strong partnerships and adhering to the principals of transparency and accountability.
*SUPERVISION RECEIVED: *Works under the direct supervision of the Chief Resilience Officer who reviews work through conferences and reports.
*SUPERVISION EXERCISED*: Supervises other division employees as required.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Builds effective working relationships across a diverse array of community partners, internal stakeholders, and system allies to create support for and participation in developing and implementing community-driven strategies and related opportunities that are data-driven, reliable and evaluated.
* Builds and maintains relationships across the gun violence prevention community, including with local, state, and federal legislators; gun violence prevention advocates; and allied nongovernmental and policy organizations.
* Communicates effectively with inclusive groups of community stakeholders, including those with lived experiences.
* Represents the City of Flint at internal and external forums to the public in relation to the work of the CVIPI.
* Leads and participates in grant seeking and revenue enhancements to sustain programs and drive budget development efforts for the program.
* Develops, with the support of the communications team and pertinent City of Flint support departments, multiple channels for engaging diverse communities and transparently reporting on progress.
* Participates in national learning communities to share the City of Flint’s CVIPI experience, learns from other communities and jurisdictions, and stays current with relevant research and trends.
* Ensures all Grant related reporting requirements are met.
* Assigns work to the City of Flint’s CVIPI team.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*: * Demonstrated ability to research, identify and match grant opportunities to meet specific organizational objectives.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and follow grant application guidelines and requirements meticulously.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information for grant proposals.
* Demonstrated ability to draft compelling and persuasive grant proposals, detailing the needs, objectives, budget and anticipated outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to submit timely and complete grant applications, ensuring adherence to specified guidelines.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain an organized database of all grant submissions, including dates, outcomes, and feedback.
* Proven ability to manage the reporting process for all awarded grants, ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.
* Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with foundations and other grant sources.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct post-submission follow-ups with grantors as necessary.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to establish working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
* Ability to work creatively and strategically.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and part of a team and with other organizations.
* Ability to use computer software related to office practices including electronic word processing, database, and spreadsheet packages.
* Ability to possess strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
* Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
*MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS*: * Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Public Health, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
* Three (3) to five (5) years previous experience working in a government or non-profit section with a focus on grant writing, management or administration.
Experience with federal grants required.
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
